A veteran received the surprise of a lifetime when he learned he would be getting a home designed specifically for his needs — completely free of charge.
Retired Army Sergeant Travis Blackman, who is paralyzed from the chest down, initially couldn’t believe the news when representatives from the nonprofit Helping a Hero told him about the gift.

World renowned artist creates new Colorado Springs sculpture

There’s a new bell of the ball in northeastern Colorado Springs.
“Belle” is the recently erected 5,000-pound steel sculpture of a Percheron draft horse by world-renowned Scottish sculptor Andy Scott. She now towers 15 feet high in Norwood Development Group’s new Percheron, a planned community at East Woodmen Road and Banning Lewis Parkway.

It’s the first such location in nearly a decade, after an “experimental” food truck lot across downtown near Palmer High School closed in 2016.
